Final mock drill - say it out loud, not in writing

The full drill of the question bank, 2 minutes per answer, final check

The last day. Today is not for learning anything new - today is the day of proof. The 8 questions in the Interview Question Bank below this page are today's test. There is only one rule: do not write the answers, say them out loud. Because in interviews there is no chance to write, and there is a world of difference between being able to write and being able to speak - many people pass in writing but get stuck speaking.

The rules of the drill

  • Turn on the voice recorder on your phone, say the answer to every question - it must finish within 2 minutes at most
  • Keep the answer's structure: first a straight definition, then how you do it, finally why you do it that way
  • After speaking, listen to yourself - does it sound unclear? Which example was weak? Say that one again
  • On whichever question you get stuck, read that chapter once more and drill it again

All 8 questions come from some chapter of this course or another - JWT vs session (chapters 5-6), N+1 (chapter 13), SQL vs NoSQL (chapters 8 and 11), cache invalidation (chapter 15), rate limiting (chapter 17), transactions and ACID (chapter 10), versioning and idempotency, and monolith vs microservice. The model answers for the last two are given in this page's question bank itself - if you see them for the first time today, that itself will show you why drilling was done through the whole course.

One last word. In these 28 days you did not just finish topics - you stood up a complete backend, where every decision has a reason behind it. In interviews, what wins is being able to state those reasons. The course ends here, but keep the habit: whatever new thing you learn, the last question is always the same - 'Can I explain this in 2 minutes?'

The mistake everyone makes

Skipping the drill thinking 'I already know it'. Knowing and being able to speak under pressure are not the same. Recording and listening to your own speaking feels uncomfortable, but exactly that discomfort is the confidence on interview day.

Today's practice

Finish the whole drill today in one sitting - 8 questions, out loud, recorded. On the two you get stuck on the most, read those chapters again and drill just those two again tomorrow. Then add the capstone's GitHub link to your CV and LinkedIn.

How to say it in an interview

Test yourself: after the drill you will have 8 recorded answers. Each within 2 minutes, in the definition-method-reason structure. That is the real result of four weeks - not just knowing backend, but being able to explain it.
